Comment posted Where can I donate children’s toys & clothing that will go directly to kids in need & not to thrift stores. by Green.

If there are any shelters (i.e. homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters) in your area these would be great places to donate those items and I’m sure they would be greatly appreciated.

  • There are hospitals that take childres toys. The Marines and The National Guard always have toy drives at Christmas. You could ask preschools or daycare centers.
  • You could try and find a local orphanage in your area. My parents used to make us weed our clothes and toys evey year and take them to a children’s home in my hometown. They were always very happy to get them.
  • Do you have a ronald McDonald House nearby?
They always need things to entertain siblings of children getting care.
Or for non fuzzy things that can be sterilized, try the hospital itself.
Call your local Cancer Society, see if they have a ‘caring cabin’. A retreat for entire families who are helping a child battle cancer.
A battered women’s shelter or homeless family shelter may also be a good resource
Depending on the age appropriateness, a program for disadvantaged youth
Thank you for trying to give and get to someone who is needy.
  • How about calling a homeless shelter or battered womens center. They will probably accept donations.

Swapbabygoods.com You can post what you have and trade with other moms and dads. You can also buy or sell. It’s great, everyone is really friendly, and best of all, it’s FREE!!!
  • Baby clothing is cute, but what about comfortable?
well at home I usually let my 6 month old wear sleepers or the rompers because they are soft and he can move around easier but when we have company or we go out I will dress him up in overalls or pants nothing too fancy

I like for my babies to be in the soft and easy outfits. I think the carters cotton gowns are great! I love the organic clothing lines out now too. Especially at night no zipper and no buttons. Here is my favorite clothing companys…….

Also try some boutique stores, some favorite lines are

    BABY LULU
    Sweet Potatoes
    mother maid
    little me
    gymboree
    and gap and old navy

Dress the baby in soft clothing, it is easier on the skin and for the babies to move around in .

Ebay….I do a clean out every 6 months, it’s amazing how much extra cash you can make………I also buy clothes off ebay for my grub……..it saves a lot of $$$ when they grow so fast.
Or some parenting forums have a buy/sell/giveaway section for kids/parenting items on thier sites.good way to get rid of stuff and chat with other parents too.
