WHY are their different sizes in toddler clothes?

Tracie M asked:

First of all – WHY do clothes size 3T differ SO much from store to store? It’s impossible to shop for your kids without them by your side (which, as we know is a huge pain sometimes ;) ) because of the differences in sizing. To add to it – WHY is there size 3T and 4T as well as size 3 and 4?? And the size 3’s and 4’s are SO much bigger! Am I missing something???

it is just like our adult clothing. different companies make the clothes about the same size. but it is never right on. just like when you buy a pair of jeans. if you buy a pair of Lee jeans, and a pair of Levi jeans, even if they are the same size, they are not the same size. I guess it also shows that everyone is made different shapes and sizes also. good luck shopping!

Toddler sizes leave room for diapers and pull ups. That is why there is a difference between a size 4 and a size 4t. You just need to learn what size your child is in for certain brands. For instance I know that old navy and gap run large. Therefore, when my daughter wore size 4/5 I purchased 4t at these stores. Know your brands and your life will be much easier.

Yeah the T. If there is a T beside a number (ex:2t) this means it is for toddlers. If it does not have a T than it is for older children!!!!

Because the sizes without the T is for kids who are small ands the sizes with T are for toddlers who are expected to be smaller thats why the sizes are so different.

A kid goes from infant sizes (usually up to 24mos) then to toddler sizes (2T-4T) then ‘big kids clothes’ (usually 3-16) The sizes vary from store to store and brand to brand simply because of the manufacturer. I bet that you fit one brand much better than you do another, right?
